Mental Health & Addictions 
Dr. Maher Hussain is a physician and psychiatrist from India. He obtained his MD (Psychiatry) from Madras Medical College, Chennai, India. On an American Govt. Scholarship ‘Hubert Humphrey Fellowship’, he successfully completed his Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree and Post doctoral Fellowship on Drug Abuse from the Dept. of Mental Health, The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA. He has many presentations and publications to his credit in the field of Addiction and Mental Health. He has vast experience in the areas of Mental Health, Addiction, Stress Management and Public Health.

Waheed Ahmed was a Clinical Psychologist currently working in the field of Recruitment, Addictions and Mental Health at the South Asian Community Health Services, Canada. Waheed had been working in the Recruitment, Addictions and Mental Health domain for the past 20 years. Prior to that, he was working as a Psychologist Officer and Recruitment and Selection Officer in Pakistan Air Force, Inter Services Selection Board that is human resources department
Waheed holds a Master of Science degree in Psychology from Punjab University and two Post-Graduate Programs from Humber College Institute of Technology Toronto, Canada in Principles and Practices of Psychosocial Rehabilitation in Mental Health. He has graduated from Sheridan College Institute of Technology Oakville, Canada a Post-Graduate Program in Human Resources Management. Recently, he has also done a diploma program from Everest College Business–Technology –Health Care, Mississauga, Canada in Addictions and Social Work.
Waheed Ahmed is currently pursuing his interests in relapse prevention and post-traumatic stress disorders.
Besides, he is a founding executive member of the Al-Eman Islamic Centre of Canada and working as a Vice-President, a non-profit organization that specializes in newcomer settlement and community development. Waheed speaks fluent Arabic, English, Urdu and Punjabi.

Mr. Muhammad Amjad is a psychologist from Pakistan. He has a long and a wealth of experience helping people with Mental Health & Addiction issues.

Dr.Khalil Ahmed Lakho M.B.B.S(Pakistan), M.Sc (CEH)

Dr. Khalil Ahmed Lakho is Community Ophthalmologist from Pakistan. He obtained his MBBS from Karachi University and MSc (CEH) from Peshawar University, Pakistan. He has an ample experience in prevention and control of Blindness specially in Asia and Africa. He has performed more than 10,000 Cataract surgeries. He has conducted many surveys in last decade like: Refractive Errors and eye problems in School Eye Health, Trachoma, Diabetic retinopathies, Low Vision, Ocular Trauma. He is the member of many Institutions, Social and Public Health organizations He has many presentations/ posters in international conferences and paper publication in peer review journals. He was Medical Director of Al-Basar’s Eye Hospital in Sudan for last 7 years. He has extensive experience in research and Editor of many medical magazines. He is Managing Editor of BIJO (peer review journal of Al-Basar Intl’ Foundation). He has a great passion for serving the South Asian community and covering its eye care/ community ophthalmology services.

Mr.Muhammad Malik has been involved in providing social services to the South Asian and other communities for the past many years. He has providing excellent services in the areas of Settlement services for newcomers, Immigration and Sponsorship, Citizenship, Employment, Housing, Health, Education, Legal Issues, Paralegal services, Family issues, Canadian Benefits and Privileges and working with Seniors.


Dr. Arunkumar Pillai, Ph.D., C.Psych.
Registered Psychologist


Dr. Arunkumar Pillai is a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario in the areas of Clinical Psychology and Rehabilitation Psychology. He was trained in Clinical Psychology at the Central Institute of Psychiatry. He provides services for mental health and addiction issues and also psychological assessments and treatments to adult clients affected by the sequelae of motor vehicle and workplace accidents related trauma.
